Ava (adoption pending)
Note: Ava has recently been placed in a forever home and this adoption will become final soon.
Ava (formerly known as Roxie Heart) was found at approximately 4 months of age, locked in a shed on a construction site and surrendered to rescue. We placed her into a foster-to-adopt home with a family with 2 other Saint Bernards until she could be spayed at an appropriate age. Unfortunately, Ava does not enjoy the company of other dogs. After trying to make it work in that home for several months, it was determined that Ava needed a home without other pets. She is now approximately 10 months old and absolutely wonderful with people, loves to cuddle with the children in her current foster home, but cannot live with other pets.
We have noticed that she is limping and have made an appointment with our vet to get x-rays and fear that she may have some elbow dysplasia that will need to be managed with gentle exercise and dietary supplements until she is older when surgery may be necessary. Ava currently weighs approximately 110 pounds, so she is going to be a good sized adult Saint that will need an experienced adopter to keep her out of trouble. A single story home may be the best fit for her so she doesn't have to navigate too many stairs into and around her home.
