Chantal (forever name Josie)
Chantal came to Sunny Saints just under 3 years old. Her owners could no longer give her the care and attention that she needed so she became a Sunny Saint. She's a wonderful dog that hasn't met a person she doesn't love, and absolutely adores children! She is approximately 100 pounds and only drools when excited or smelling yummies
Thank you Sally B and family for giving her a forever home. We wish you a lifetime of happiness with your new girl!

We are just THRILLED with our new baby. At the moment, she is taking her afternoon nap on our bed (or is it hers???) She loves her morning and evening walks and her afternoon swim. She was very resistant at first to go in the pool, but you (or Pam) had told me to make sure that she knew how to get out of the pool (to swim and be able to find the stairs) in case she would ever fall in. She is doing very well with her “swim lessons”. And we are just LOVING teaching her. Presently, she has an ear infection. I took her to the vet last Friday and am giving her drops and antibiotics so her swim lessons are suspended. (She is sad about that!)
Last week, we took her with us on vacation to Carmel. My husband thought it would be a great place to help her “socialize” with dogs and learn manners. She was the perfect hotel guest and friendly with all the humans – tiny and old - that she met, and by the time we left Carmel, she was doing much better relating with her own species!!! And of course, we LOVED watching her run in the waves.
However, we did rename her. We lived 18 years in France (our 3 kids were born over there) and with her history of being used and neglected and abused, her story reminded me of Napoleon’s 1st wife, Josephine. Napoleon loved her for her beauty but when she didn’t meet his needs anymore, he neglected her and eventually replaced her. The legend has it that Josephine died of a broken heart. Well, our “JOSIE” may have started out neglected, used, and abused, but we are determined she will live LOVED!!! She is responding to her new name and seems so happy. But my husband and I are the happy ones!!!
Thank you so much for leading us to her. We are so grateful for all you do to save the “Josies” around! You and those you work with are very special people! Please if you ever are in the Fresno area, feel free to stop in and see her. I would love to meet you.
We are indebted!
