Conrad (forever name Jojo)
Conrad (also known as Bobo) was approximately 2 years old when he came to Sunny Saints from a shelter in central California where he was picked up as a stray, extremely underweight. With diligence and hard work, his foster family figured out that he was allergic to all things containing chicken, so got him on a completely chicken free diet and he started to gain weight. He loved for his foster mom Cindy to brush him and take him for car rides and he became very attached to the 3 year old twin boys in the family and would do everything he could think of to comfort the children when they would cry. Conrad became canine best friends in his foster home with a very small, handicapped dog with whom he was very gentle. Conrad already knew his basic obedience commands, but did still pull on a leash so he received a lot of help with that while staying at his foster home. When the Posada family met him, it was the perfect fit as they have 2 small children and a very small dog named Spot, so they were the lucky ones who adopted Conrad and we wish them many happy years together! Welcome to the Sunny Saints family Monique and Danny!
Update: November 19, 2011
We received word from Jojo's family saying that Jojo didn't realize that the sliding glass door was closed and he ran through it, breaking the glass (not safety) and severing 2 major arteries in his paw. He was immediately taken to surgery and didn’t return home until the following morning. His mom, Monique, informed us that he was still groggy from the anesthesia, but resting comfortably and that the hospital didn't have an e-collar large enough for him, so we took our recently donated BooBooLoon e-collar and a wire crate for them to keep him in so he'll stay down as much as possible during his healing. Jojo has staples in his left leg and a few stitches in his forehead and is able to moan (whether in pain or for more love we will never know). Special thanks to Crossroads Emergency Animal Hospital in Norwalk, CA and to Monique and Danny for loving him so much and acting so quickly.

Thank you for all of the well wishes and prayers. Jojo is resting comfortably and he finally ate some rice in broth. He is in pain but he definitely is soaking in all of the attention he is getting. We will make sure to put stickers on our replacement door! Thank you VERY much to Pam and Debbie for loaning us the crate and XXL Ecollar. We are so happy that we chose such a great rescue to adopt Jojo from... it feels more like a family :)
