Ellie May
Elly May and her companion Jethro were found abandoned in the oil fields north of Taft, CA in 110 degree weather. Taking refuge from the heat in the shade of an oil derek, they were both covered in tar and close to death when a truck driver loaded them into his truck, took them home with him and called us to help. Fast forward a couple of months, and they are both now doing very well in their foster homes and are looking for their forever families.
Elly May is estimated at around 4 years of age and is a bit of a shy girl. It took her some time to get comfortable with being in a loving foster home, but she is now sleeping in a crate (but would prefer sleeping on the floor next to your bed), she has mastered loose leash walking and loves to cuddle with her foster family and greet them with fairly dry kisses when they come home from work. She gets a little scared when she meets new dogs, but once she is reminded that you are there and she is safe by gently saying her name, she corrects and relaxes quickly. She may do better being the only fur kid in the home so she doesn't have to worry about sharing her family's love and cuddle time with others. She is living with other female dogs in her foster home and with patience and a little time, she has learned to not be so grumpy with them and is now starting to instigate play with them.
