    Foster Application and Agreement

Please fill out the form below and then click/tap the Submit button at the end.

IMPORTANT: You must fill in all form fields marked with *, otherwise your form will NOT be sent.

Saint Bernards shed profusely and may drool excessively. If either is offensive to you,
STOP NOW, fostering a Saint Bernard is not for you!

Please list any other pets that you have in the home (leave blank if none)

    Dog #1

    Dog #2

    Dog #3
NOTE: We recommend (but do not require) that resident dogs have the Bordetella vaccines every 6 months for their protection because many shelter dogs end up carrying the germ, even if not symptomatic.

This agreement is between you (the "foster") and Sunny Saints Saint Bernard Rescue (us, the "rescue") and governs our relationship when one or more of our dogs is placed with you as a foster dog (the "foster dog", "dog", "animal", etc.) on a temporary basis until an adequate permanent home is found for it by the rescue. The parties to this Foster Agreement hereby agree to the following terms and conditions, intending to be bound by them.
    1. The foster shall accept dogs for fostering only from a representative of Sunny Saints. Dogs accepted from other sources do not qualify as foster dogs for the purposes of this agreement unless approved in writing by a designated rescue representative.
    2. The foster agrees not to adopt its first foster dog. Exceptions allowed on a case by case basis, subject to approval by the rescue, in writing. The foster agrees that if they want to adopt a foster, this agreement remains in full effect until adoption paperwork is completed and signed by both the foster and a designated rescue representative.
    3. The foster shall be responsible for transporting the dog to and from the vet for scheduled checkups and any other treatment necessary. Transportation shall be at the foster’s expense.
    4. Routine medical care shall be at the expense of the rescue. However, all routine medical care shall be coordinated with and authorized by the rescue prior to treatment. Unauthorized routine medical care shall be at the expense of the foster.
    5. Emergency medical care shall be at the expense of the rescue program. Foster agrees to make a reasonable attempt to notify and coordinate emergency care with the rescue in such situations.
    6. The rescue shall be responsible for the annual license (if required by county law) and paperwork.
    7. The foster shall be responsible for providing adequate food, water, and shelter for the foster dog(s) at all times. The rescue does get dog food donations from time to time for its fosters, which may be given to you, but shall not be relied upon as a sole source of food for a foster dog. The foster agrees to keep foster dog(s) as indoor companion(s) and in a fenced yard or on a leash at all times when outside, and in accordance with any other applicable local ordinances. The foster agrees to keep the foster dog in a safe and secure area when no one is home.
    8. The foster shall be responsible for grooming and bathing foster dog(s) in its care.
    9. The foster agrees to follow the rehabilitation and feeding plans as set forth by the rescue.
    10. The foster agrees to exercise and socialize the foster dog(s) in its care on a regular basis.
    11. The foster agrees that the rescue cannot guarantee that any foster dog is house broken, even if we've been told that it is, and as such, is not liable for any related damage caused by a dog that is not house broken.
    12. The foster agrees to notify a rescue representative immediately upon the first sign of aggression (dog or human) and make regular reports regarding the dog’s progress.
    13. The foster agrees to make any dog placed in its care available for the public to meet, when given reasonable advance notice. Reasonable notice is defined as 48 hours.
    14. The foster agrees to notify the rescue of any extended absences (i.e. vacations, business trips, etc.) and provide relevant contact information for those periods.
    15. If at any time the foster is unable to care for the foster dog(s), the foster agrees to return the foster dog(s) to the rescue, along with all documentation.
    16. The foster agrees to return all non-perishable supplies provided or paid for by the rescue, including leashes, collars, medical supplies, beds, crates, etc. when the foster is no longer providing foster care.
    17. The foster agrees that the rescue may take back foster dog(s) at any time, for any reason, and further agrees that this agreement is NOT an adoption agreement.
    18. The foster agrees that they assume the risks of being bitten, scratched, knocked down, injured and/or frightened, by dogs or puppies, in connection with foster care work for Sunny Saints.
    19. The foster agrees that Sunny Saints is not liable to them or others for any injuries, damages, liabilities, losses, judgments, costs or expenses whatsoever, which they or others might suffer or sustain in connection with the performance of foster care activities for Sunny Saints, unless they are the result of gross negligence or intentional misconduct of the rescue.
    20. The foster agrees that it indemnifies, defends and holds harmless Sunny Saints, its volunteers, officers, directors and representatives, from and against any claims, legal actions, injuries, damages, losses, costs or expenses (including attorneys fees) whatsoever, sustained by any property, animal or person in connection with intentional misconduct or grossly negligent performance of its foster care activities for Sunny Saints, or its breach of their rules, regulations, procedures, policies, programs and/or this agreement.
