Joey
Joey is a happy, loving 4 year old Saint. He was an owner surrender and came to us about 50 pounds underweight, dirty, full of fleas and sores on his body. He is now in good shape physically, has been neutered and is putting on weight.
Joey has been really good with basic obedience. He can sit and lie-down, and is great on leash with a simple chest harness on. He also loves his treats and is quick to catch on to what you're asking of him (the boy aims to please). He is generally house-trained, with just a few marking incidents as he's settled in.
He has a playful personality, an always-wagging tail (which looks like a propeller once he gets going!), and loves his walks and park playtime. He is great with young kids (has fostered with 5 and 6 year old children), has tolerated cats that don't run, and lived peacefully with chickens. He has generally been good with other dogs, though may be best as the only dog for awhile as he settles into a new home. He enjoys car rides and going to the beach. He has slept on the floor next to his human's bed at night and is a great sleeper who occasionally nuzzles his nose under the covers to make sure you're still there, before going back to sleep.
Joey needs an experienced adopter that will continue with all the hard work that his fosters have put into him and has the experience and patience he needs to grow and thrive. Joey LOVES the people he knows and trusts, but can be very slow and wary with strangers (especially men) so patience is a must. He tends to be great at meeting new people while on leash, so a great way to do introductions.
Joey's perfect home would have him as an only dog, and a human companion that will be there most of the time. While he can happily be alone 3 - 4 hours at a time, he enjoys his people too much to be alone for 8 or more hours per day. Joey will be a wonderful addition to a lucky family.
