Judge Baylor Bob Boy Bear Hammack here!!!!!! (Just call me Baylor tho).
WOW, just had to write to tell you what an awesome day this has turned out to be! Started kinda slow actually 'cause Dad woke up SOOOO early, I mean IT WAS DARK!!!.... he got up and after a bit snoozed on the big sofa. I didn't want to get up BUT I figure it's my job to keep tabs on these two and Mom was zzzzing. Well SHE woke up and wondered where we were and came down, too. I have to tell you I like to sleep in and so thank goodness that they both decided it was too early even for coffee.
Dad's doing some work in that little bathroom, there isn't room for both of us so I mostly ran herd on Mom... she was at her desk pushing a pencil and cleaning the kitchen, so I watched and snoozed a bit more. She came home yesterday with these awesome beef jerky dog treats, soft and chewy and super yuuuuuuummmmmm. All I have to do is "sit and stay" and I get a piece. Sometimes I get too excited and flop on my back but I mostly listen to her and get back up and sit. I think I'm doing pretty well with that trick.
I can't be in the back yard as much today 'cause Dad says it would be dangerous for me to get in that side bathroom door, he's working with some awful stinky stuff so I don't want to be there anyway. Mom spent a bunch of time this afternoon cutting tile for him on the patio. The cutter's loud but it doesn't bother me. :) I'm cool with it. I suppose little dogs might be afraid of big noises, but not us bigger types.
There's lots of dogs around here, haven't met any yet up close, but some of them just won't close their yappers, ya know what I'm talkin' about? Sheesh..... give it a rest as Dad says.
THE BEST PART OF THE DAY SO FAR is why I'm writing. WELL.... Mom said to Dad, "I think it's a good time to go have our first 99¢ burger!" Dad said "OK, but take the truck, you OK with that?" (What did he think would happen? I LOVE that truck). She made me use my best manners getting on my leash and sitting at the door before she'd open it, then we trotted to the open door of the truck and I just hopped right in! I wanted her to know I was ready. She kept my leash on her arm but opened both windows and I could just get my snoot pushed from behind the seat to get a good view. Man, LOVE the WIND IN MY EARS!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW... it's just so cool.
I was sooooo good, well almost....before we got too far I DID stand, just for a couple seconds on the console, but Mom said no and I thought I'd better be really good. She had told Dad if she had any trouble we'd come straight home and skip the burger. The drive to the burger joint was smooth, and I was very good as she talked to the lady inside the sign. Mom drove up and paid and the lady gave her the food bag and said "WHOA, that's a big dog! Where's his brandy barrel?" What are they talking about? What did that have to do with the food bag? Some things I'm not clear on.
Anyway, Mom stopped the truck and opened the bag and ya know what? Right there, in the parking lot, she said "sit", I sat in the back seat, and I GOT A BITE!!!!!!!! oh boy oh boy oh boy, I like this 99¢ burger idea. I was so very good and just once I put a paw on the console, Mom said no/sit and I did and I got another bite!!!
We went for a drive and I got some good wiffs of everything and then we drove back home. Mom needs a second to close the gate, she's very protective I feel very safe with her, Dad, too of course. I think he's the big cheese around here but Mom, well, she's pretty special and I love her just as much. She uses her "FIRM VOICE" and I listen up 'cause I know she's the boss-lady. She told me to stay while she opened the back door and I minded and when she said come, we bounded into the house together, but I had to sit to get my leash off.
I really am working hard at being a gentleman. I'm getting the picture that sometimes I have to have gentleman behavior, you know, heel and walk, slack leash and sit and stay and all... but other times, I can kick up my heels through the back yard and just go crazy leaping and running. Gotta' tell you it's a blast!
I'll write more another day, definitely have more to tell you about, but right now I'd better go, I'm a little worn out and they might need me, so I'd better see what the two of them are up to.
Thanks so much for helping me find my forever family, you gave me the best one ever! I promise to take good care of them because THEY take care of ME!!!!! Paws up to you! (to people it means the same as "high 5"),

Guess what?
I found where mom keeps the stuffies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, guess I SORTA knew ' cause I've seen her get one down from waaaaaaay up there on top of the bookshelf wall. But today there were two that I guess had fallen down on their own. Hehehe! Zowie!! There was another elephant and a racoon!!! COOL! Just right there, waiting !!!! :)
I was keeping her company while she tore some more wallpaper down (no more of her messing with the electrical outlets tho thank Heaven) and I was just looking around, it's a big room, lots to sniff, and there they were looking at me, and I could reach them and I figured they were gonna be mine pretty soon anyway and so I took them out to the family room. :):):)
Just started grooming the racoon and Mom came in and said "Hey ! This one's not for you, sorry! She meant the raccoon. Shoot, don't have a raccoon yet. She said it was a very special treasure of Chris'. It's OK, I KNOW Chris is a super guy even though I haven't met him yet. Besides, it had wooden snowshoes on and I would have taken them off and probably lost them somewhere. I got to keep the elephant though!!!!! I got the crazies over it and Dad took me out to play. Love Dad... he knows how to play all the dog games. He sorta speaks dog, too.
I hear them saying they are going back to work tomorrow, they are sad because they love being on vacation home with me. They are best friends with each other, they hug a lot, and now they both belong to me and I'm so lucky !
Sure hope 7-Up comes over to babysit tomorrow. I like 7-Up. I guess I called her Savannah to you last time... but Mom likes to call her 7-Up because that's what her phone calls her. It's a good nickname, don't ya think?
Dad's snoring now, I'm about to, too, so I'm going to go lay down close by. Did I thank you for helping me find Mom & Dad?

Guess What?!?!?!?!?!?! I think I must be doing really good, because lately, when the parentals are gone... (you're not gonna believe this), I get to stay in the whole house by myself!!!!! Yeah! Isn't that the coolest thing ever? OK, well maybe not exactly the ENTIRE house, they don't trust me in the bedrooms yet, those doors stay closed. Do you think it's because I marked in two of 'em? I'm SORRY!!!!!
It's so neat to be able to watch for them out the front window... sigh, and the tile by the front door is cool and I can just zzzzz there and still see and hear everything. I'm glad they know now that I really have a job here and being stuck in the den keeps me from it! I'm supposed to guard the house while they're gone. Any dog worth his salt knows that. I gotta bark and I'm not much for barking, but sometimes, ya gotta let it out with a few good loud ones, just to let the neighborhood know who's on duty!!
Would one of you ask them to order the dog channel on TV for me? I've given them all the hints I know... I STARE at the silly girl show Mom loves about the wedding dresses. Our Chris asked Brittany to marry him and so they're going to be doing all the wedding stuff next year... sure wish I could meet the kids, I hear they're nuts about dogs, too :):):):):):) About TV, I GAWK at the HGTV shows... but the guy shows Dad watches are better. BUT when I see a 4 legged person on the screen I go up and put my nose on it. HINT HINT MOM & DAD I LIKE THIS!!!!! For now, they turn on TVLand or the old movie channel when they go. Maybe we can get it for my birthday or Christmas, but of course, we don't know my birthday... Mom says we'll make one up... who cares as long as we have ice cream!
Which reminds me, MOM actually bought a tub of ice cream that we have in our freezer now!! Fred'a ice cream is the best but we can't go there everyday. I almost get my nose caught in the freezer drawer when Mom opens it, hahaha, I have a big nose ya know! Last night she and I shared a big old bowl... wow, love that stuff. Now that they've given me my first bath, they can see how thin I really am under all this fur and I get even more food!!!
Know what else she's doing in the food department? Treats are everywhere all over the house now!! Every place I've marked (sorry) she puts a row of treats around. Plus, she's got them around every sofa and chair in every room ! Even the piano bench (why would I mark that? Hadn't even occurred to me). I'm not about to raise my leg on treats so I think I'll skip doing that on stuff in the house. They aren't the really super favorite treats, kinda dry and not much flavor, but they're pretty good when I'm really hungry, like in the morning. I LOVE breakfast. Mom says it's an important meal so sometimes, I get two bowls, one from Mom and one from Dad.
Something you told me I think you got a little wrong. No disrespect intended, but you said I'm such a big boy, a gentle giant, teddy bear and all that. I sit in Mom's lap now and I'm really just a little dog, no bigger than medium size. Thought you'd like to know so you don't give my cousins the wrong info. Hey, you got people who belong to you, I say "sit in their laps, they seem to like it!" Only hard part is, I can't see their faces when I'm on their laps but I'm working on curling up a little tighter so I can.
Dad's been getting in the big pool a lot lately. I guess I don't need to worry about him, or rescue him or anything, good thing 'cause I'm not ready to get in there!!! He seems to think it's fun but I dunno... remember I fell in the deep end that day and it scared me to pieces! When Mom took Emma in on Sunday, I didn't know what to think.

So, what's going on with Darla?
Dad's already talking about HER being my sister, overheard him talking to mom outside by the pool tonight and she was kinda' surprised... sheesh... parents...talk talk talk, just tell me when it's for real OK? Please give Darla a hug for me if you get to see her, I'm so sad she's got a broken leg. Crummy. She must have been with some stupid people. Mom and Dad say that I'll NEVER ride in the dangerous part of a truck or car. Golly, Mom even worries I'll jump out of the window. Does she think I'm goofy? They won't even put the window down all the way, how would I fit through there? I love how she cares about me, even if she does go over the top. :)
Say, what do YOU think about this pool business? Mom's been getting in there every day now and I'm not too hot on it. I mean I can see her and hear her and her heads above water most of the time and she does keep talking, but I dunno... Yesterday I cruised all around the edges, and I whined a bit to let her know I just am not sure I like her in there. She keeps saying "Oh, Baylor, it's OK... this is so nice and fun and one day you'll swim with me." Right. Sure. That's what she thinks. I'm not getting in there anytime soon.
Life can be so simple and then there's NEW stuff I have to figure out. Don't worry, I'm really happy, and I don't worry much... Mom and Dad are super cool. I have so many toys I really will be ready to share them when I do get a sister. She won't be too selfish or anything, right? I mean, she's gonna have to fit in and I WILL get to be the boss of her, right? Sigh, I think that's too much to think about right now. Golly, I'm so happy here, have I said thank you? They were talking about Cindy again tonight.... they must have loved her a lot and I know I'm lucky to have parents like this. Do you think they love me just as much? I hear names.... Mandy, Chad, Freddie, Max, Boomer, Chester, Larry, Cindy... wow, lots of Hammack doggies - a big family. I think I'm proud to be a Hammack.
