Ladybug
Ladybug is nearly 6 years old, but age is only a number to this sweet girl! Just one look into her dark, soulful eyes and this girl will steal your heart away. If you are wanting a devoted, loving companion to sit by your side, take casual walks with, or just lounge around your feet, then Ladybug is the Saint for you! Not only is she good with children and other dogs, she has a heartwarming story of her own. She came to Sunny Saints when her former owners had a downward turn in their finances and could no longer provide her with the basic care that she needed. When our volunteer went to get her, she was covered in fleas and had a terrible flea allergy that had rendered what was left of her coat dry and brittle, and she had no fur on her paws, back legs, rear end or tail. She was miserable, lethargic and would only eat when hand fed. Despite her deplorable condition, when she went to her foster home, she very much wanted to be a part of the family and to give and get love. After a full medical exam, Ladybug was also diagnosed as Heartworm positive. At her age, drastic Heartworm treatment is contraindicated, so don't let her diagnosis turn you away from considering making her a part of your family! All she needs to treat the condition is a monthly heartworm preventative which all dogs should receive anyway! Since she has been with Sunny Saints and on flea control, her coat is coming back in beautifully, she has gained some much needed weight (still could stand to put on a few more pounds) and is enjoying playing with her foster canine brothers and sisters. Ladybug knows her manners, when reminded. She will wait until you tell her it is OK to go outside. She likes to hold hands with you, sit by your feet and will love you forever if you give her a belly rub! She also now LOVES to eat, even if you are not a gourmet cook she'll treat each meal as if you are! Congratulations to the Hawtrey family on their adoption of Ladybug! Welcome to the Sunny Saints family!

I'm happy to share that Ladybug's vet check up yesterday went awesome. She is now at 125 pounds with a shiny healthy coat of hair, still growing back, but looking good! We will re-test her heartworm status in May. Notice her cute 'girlie pink' collar!! She is settling in with her new brother and loves everyone she meets. Thanks Amanda, and Sunny Saints for allowing me to adopt this wonderful girl :)
