Marisnick family
I have always loved animals of all shapes and sizes. From the time I was young, I was the kid who was taking care of lost, injured or orphaned animals that needed me, both domestic and wild.
I have owned and loved dogs, cats, birds, horses, goats, pigs, cows, rabbits....well you get the idea, for as long as I can remember. My dogs in particular are my family. I currently own a 3 year old German Shepherd, a 12 year old Golden Retriever, and two year old Chihuahua mixes we adopted from the SPCA. I think I have owned more than 10-15 different breeds in my life.
Losing any pet is devastating to me but this past year has been especially difficult. I lost 3 of my "loves" to old age. My special girl was Gretchen, my 11 year old English Bulldog. I was initially asked to be a foster mom to another Bullie but it was too soon to losing her for me have the same breed. That decision led me to Sunny Saints.
I am lucky enough to have a large ranch and our neighbor had a Saint Bernard that I was always intrigued with. I thought I would be a great fit for these gentle giants and they were about as far from a Bulldog as you can get so I contacted Sunny Saints to see if they needed help. I got my first foster a week later.
While their sheer size can make them a challenge, the Saints are as wonderful a breed as I have ever owned. My first foster, Winnie has a heart as big as the sun. I am very grateful that Pam and Kim felt enough trust in me to allow me to be a part of this great organization.
