Rufus
Rufus was 5 years old when Sunny Saints was contacted by Rufus' original owner to help in finding Rufus a new home. They had been reassigned from Northern California to the East Coast last year and when they found out that the military housing there had a 50 pound weight limit for dogs, they were heartbroken. They found another military family in Northern California that committed to love and take care of Rufus for them, but within months of being moved to his new home they received the news that Rufus was going to be taken to a shelter because the new family was planning to divorce and neither of them wanted Rufus any longer.
As soon as the original owner learned of this he called Sunny Saints to explain the situation and to ask for our assistance in finding Rufus a new home. It just so happened that we had a volunteer who lived about a mile from the home where Rufus was living and she went the very next day to meet him and make arrangements for him to be transferred to one of our foster homes within a few days. Rufus was suffering from some allergy related skin issues (because the family had not maintained his grain-free diet) and desperately needed his nails trimmed, but all of that was taken care of in foster care and he totally blossomed into a wonder dog! Rufus loves kids and gets along well with other dogs (large and small) and he loves to be anywhere his people are as his new family can attest! Congratulations to the McCormick Family on your adoption of Rufus! All of us at Sunny Saints wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
