Marley (forever name Orso)
This gorgeous chocolate Newfoundland hunk of love is Marley! He is one of the biggest dogs we have seen (and we see a lot of BIG dogs) even though he was extremely skinny when he came into rescue with Sunny Saints (weighing in at only 154 pounds). Our vet estimated him to be approximately 5 years old when we rescued Marley out of a local shelter. He had been found as a stray that went unclaimed and even though he was microchipped it didn’t help him to find his way home because the microchip had never been registered. Marley adapted perfectly into his foster home, with no issues at all and was the most wonderful, loving, mellow fellow you could possibly ask for. As you can imagine, our “Sunny Newfie” Marley received a lot of attention as he stood out in the sea of Saints he was surrounded by on our website and Facebook and the Seimas Family were the lucky ones that got to take Marley (forever named “Orso”) home!

Orso is doing great! He is gaining healthy muscle and weight and has blended in with the family perfectly. My in-laws finally got to meet him last week and were startled at first but quickly grew to love him. He makes such a great impression on everyone that meets him, even my neighbors that are terrified of large dogs love to hang out with him.
He loves his nightly brushings and short walk (1/4 block). He loves being inside the house at all times which is great with us. We are working on his begging, and keeping the cats away from his treats as he isn't real fond of them trying to sniff them before he finishes. My son is still worried about being licked and knocked over but is warming up to Orso as long as he's lying down. Orso loves playing tug of war, and likes to try to play and bark at the kittens that are not afraid of him.

We are sad to report that Marley was returned to Sunny Saints due to his adoptive family's change in military deployment. Shortly after coming back, we noticed problems with his legs which turned out to be terminal bone cancer. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully with his favorite foster mom Kim at his side.
